The Consistent Comparison Problem in N-Version Software
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have identified a difficulty in the implementation of N-version programming. The problem, which we call the Consistent Comparison Problem, arises for applications in which decisions are based on the results of comparisons of finite-precision numbers. We show that when versions make comparisons involving the results of finite-precision calculations, it is impossible to guarantee the consistency of their results. It is therefore possible that correct versions may arrive at completely different outputs for an application that does not apparently have multiple correct solutions. If this problem is not dealt with explicitly, an N-version system may be unable to reach a consensus even when none of its component versions fails.

Introduction: Self-efficacy has an important role in applying scientific and professional knowledge and skills. Teaching methods can develop different skills such as decision making capability. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of teaching method of lecture in comparison with lecture and problem based learning on nursing students self-efficacy in Najafabad Islamic Azad Universit...
متن کاملModified Pareto archived evolution strategy for the multi-skill project scheduling problem with generalized precedence relations
In this research, we study the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem, where there are generalized precedence relations between project activities. Workforces are able to perform one or several skills, and their efficiency improves by repeating their skills. For this problem, a mathematical formulation has been proposed that aims to optimize project completion time, reworki...
متن کاملQuantitative Comparison of SPM, FSL, and Brainsuite for Brain MR Image Segmentation
Background: Accurate brain tissue segmentation from magnetic resonance (MR) images is an important step in analysis of cerebral images. There are software packages which are used for brain segmentation. These packages usually contain a set of skull stripping, intensity non-uniformity (bias) correction and segmentation routines. Thus, assessment of the quality of the segmented gray matter (GM), ...

متن کاملComparison of coping mechanisms used by suicidal attempt patients, and those without suicidal history
Introduction: Care of suicidal attempted patient is a challenging task for all health care providers. Coping mechanisms reduce suicide probability by decreasing severity of stressors. Therefore, we aimed at investigating the coping mechanisms used by suicidal attempted patients referred to hospital. Methods: In this case-control study, cases (n= 50) were selected conveniently among patients r...
